Holly NearFor decades, Holly has worked tirelessly for social justice. As a singer-songwriter, she has produced many albums that reflected the social barometer of our time -- and she is good. Recently she has released three compilations of her best-loved work: |
| And Still We Sing, (2 CD set, $ 21.95). Similar to the popular Simply Love compilation, this set chronicles Holly's commitment to political causes through her music. Contains thirty years of social change music. Includes many tracks never before available on disc.
Crushed: The Love Song Collection, ($18.95). Who can forget the haunting and compelling "Fire in the Rain"? This song is just one of the many Holly has compiled here for us to relive decades of love won love lost. A must for anyone who has ever had a crush on this important contributor to women's music.
Lifeline Extended (with Ronnie Gilbert, $18.95). Lifeline is still one of my favorite Holly Near releases. The mere fact that the legendary Ronnie Gilbert collaborates with Holly is enough reason to by this new release that has seven additional tunes, including some from Singing with You, which was never released on a CD.
